Hanazakari no Kimitachi e [花ざかりの君たちへ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Maybe it doesn't follow the manga and maybe the situations are a bit put on, but it's still a lovable series. For me all the characters play their parts in progressing and (sometimes regressing) the show. The fact the series was sometimes over the top was the appeal for me. (i.e. when all the guys bring blankets for Sano. Or Masao---well being himself.) It's pretty lighthearted and silly so if you're feeling down or you just want to watch something to unwind I think you'll enjoy it too.
Maou [魔王] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Toma's character was a little over the top for the first few episodes. (He was just too loud and too in the faces of the perps, in my opinion) But as the series progresses things really start to get interesting and the acting gets better. I've watched the series twice and I've started to pick up on the smaller details of both Ohno and Toma's performances and I think these little things truly round out their characters. Both lawyer and detective are damaged and are not completely good or evil, just human.
There are times when things get a little too over the top and sometimes the episodes are a little predictable, but you still can't resist getting caught up in the show. It's a dark, interesting, supernatural crime drama.
And the ending is very fitting.
Oyaji~ [オヤジぃ] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) This was one of the first dramas I've ever watched and I still enjoy it. There's a lot of character growth I especially loved the mom's storyline. It made me understand her more and why she made the choices she did. But Sumika (and her 'relationship' with Tadashi) was the highlight of the series for me. :P
Zettai Kareshi [絶対彼氏] Rating: 9/10 (Watched) It has a good mix of humor and drama. You immediately fall in love with Soshi and Night. I have to say I had some issues with Riko. She was just so heartless to Night through the first half of the series. I understand she feels he's like a talking washing machine, but the lengths he goes for her (programming or not) still deserves some pleasantness. But I guess without this detachment in the early start of their 'relationship' you wouldn't see how she develops into the person she is at the end of the series. (Still it bothers me.)
But it's a really fantastic series, I cried A LOT at the end...I can't wait for the special.
