Matsumoto Jun [松本潤] Matsumoto Jun grew on me. I didn't like him at first, but as I watched more and more of him (first in Hana Yori Dango then in Gokusen), I saw the strong feelings in his acting. You can see the passion in his eyes.
Nishikido Ryo [錦戸亮] I liked his acting in Ichi Ritoru No Namida. Subtle, yet very compelling. I think he's a good dramatic actor. I hope to see him in other j-doramas, maybe in a lighter fun role next? He's got great eyes.
Oguri Shun [小栗旬] I think he acts very well and with so much passion. He can act funny, and also does serious drama. He's also very charming, I must say. Liked him when he was a kid in GTO (Yoshikawa Noboru), loved him as Hanazawa Rui in Hana Yori Dango.
Takizawa Hideaki [滝沢秀明] Takki's such a good actor you can put him in any role and he's do great in it. Seriously. You can really see the intense emotions in his acting. (Plus, he's really cool and handsome!)

Attention Please [アテンションン プリース] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Aya Ueto is so adorable! I like how the story was consistent all throughout. My only disappointment, if you can call it that, was that the love angle between Shouta and Misaki was built up really well, only to sort of die [rather fade] in the end. I give the production team props for actually getting to film in JAL.
Gokusen [ごくせん] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) I gave it an 8 since it upheld its being slapstick. Its a very light and funny series. It was very predictable (but I think that was the point) and yet, was quite touching at certain points. I can't believe Nakama Yukie pulled off a Yakuza-heir geeky teacher.
Gokusen Season 2 [ごくせん２] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) Definitely paled in comparison to the first Gokusen. Its like de ja vu... only its not. The only saving grace of that entire series was Kamenashi Kazuya's heartbreaking performance in episode 9.
Hana Yori Dango [花より男子] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) HYD live action was tons better than Taiwanese counterpart Meteor Garden. Casting was good; Matsumoto Jun fit into Domyouji Tsukasa's character like a glove, and Oguri Shun portrayed the elusive and contemplative Hanazawa Rui very well. The overall feel of the drama was quite dark, and it was faithful to the manga. I was a little bit annoyed at some of the camera angles expecially when they shot an actor at three angles to convey their presence with a rrrreally corny model-pose (aka when Tsubaki came). And when it just became too corny and over-the-top (then again, maybe that was the point). I think the shortness of the series (11 eps all in all) made me feel like watching a lengthy movie where every scene counts.
Hero Rating: 9/10 (Watched) Hero was a good drama, one of Kimura's better dramas. His acting was solid and the on-screen pair-up with Matsu Takako couldn't be better. They really look good and act well together. The other cast membere were very funny. The series had a lot of nice, light and funny moments that will definitely give an impact to viewers. The storyline was kind of predictable and at certain points became quite blurry. I guess that's to be expected from a law profession-related series... the jargon was a force to reckon with. All in all, it was still a good drama to watch. Not just because its a Kimutaku drama.
Ichi Ritoru no Namida [１リットルの涙] Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Yes, the rumors are true it is a tearjerker. Story-wise, it was painful and beautiful at the same time --a real inspiring story. Surprisingly, it wasn't dragging. The story covered a long period of time, and you really see the change in the characters. Erika Sawajiri was the heart and soul of this drama and the series wouldn't have worked had she not given a great portrayal. Nishikido Ryo was a great surprise also. His acting gave you the impression of real hurt and love. He's got beautiful tears, yes. The acting of the enitre cast was good. *clap clap* Anyway, its rare to find a drama that will stay with you a long time. I don't think anyone will dare forget this story. Its just impossible.
Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット] Rating: 7/10 (Watched) A funny heart-felt drama, another May-December affair. Koyuki was the heart & soul of this drama and Matsumoto Jun wasn't so bad himself. He became a bit over-acting at times, but then again I believe the situation called for it. The story was not an exceptional one, but it was still quite entertaining.
Kurosagi [クロサギ] Rating: 6/10 (Watched) The story was too thin, very predictable and boring at times. The acting was just so-so. Yamashita Tomohisa didn't show much acting range and Horikita Maki came off as too self-righteous. They weren't too believable. It was an ambitious drama, and frankly the producers didn't pull it off.
[Personally, I really hoped Yamashita Tomohisa's first acting lead would be a a good one. I was severely disappointed.]
Nobuta wo Produce [野ブタ。をプロデュース] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) One of the more unusual, tasteful high school dramas. I think Kamenashi Kazuya delivered the significant performance required to make the drama click. I was surprised at the insights and emotions that this series evoked. At certain points, it was very funny (and slapstick), but then almost instantly, it becomes dark and foreboding. Again, an odd mix for a high school drama.
Stand UP!! Rating: 10/10 (Watched) One of the best coming of age comedies. I love the honesty, the coherence of the plot and the interesting personalities! Love it!
Summer snow Rating: 10/10 (Watched) Gave it a 10. The series was not exactly predictable, what with the surprising twists and all. The cast gave a very compelling performance, most notably Domoto Tsyuyoshi who was just plain great. I was pleasantly surprised by the other 2 actors as well--Imai Tsubasa and Oguri Shun. They managed a subtle, yet solid portrayal of a delinquent-turned-young-father and a hearing-impaired, sensitive younger brother respectively. Hirosue Ryoko lighted up the screen with her honest smile and frail demeanor and was just too beautiful for words. I sort of thought Tsuyoshi and Ryoko don't make a good on-screen couple, but they did pull it off. The storyline was also good, well-thought of. It didn't drag unecessarily, and every element in the plot was resolved properly.
Tatta Hitotsu no Koi [たったひとつの恋] Rating: 8/10 (Watched) Ayase Haruka ang Kamenashi Kazuya gave solid performances. I was even surprised myself. I just thought the whole plot and it's execution were too melodramatic than what needed be.

Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] Unusually heartfelt [Rating: 9/10] Love Generation showed us extensive insight into relationships more than what we probably noticed.
Mukodono! [ムコ殿/女婿大人] Heart-felt... And the popstar angle is genius. [Rating: 8/10] This is a good, heart-felt, family-oriented drama. It has a tendency to go overboard sometimes, but the entire series was really very entertaining. The popstar angle was incredibly funny and I think the series clicked [the first time] because there is an associated fascination with popstars. Tomoya Nagase pulled off the suave-on-the-outside, geek-on-the-inside Sakuraba Yuichiiro very well. I was surprised by the sheer decency of his acting. :p The other family members were also highly interesting... I almost thought everyone was a basketcase. Then I settled to thinking the eldest sister was the crazy one.
It really was very amusing.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] Great Coming of Age drama [Rating: 10/10] Story-wise, Orange Days was very rich and coherent. The story was about the most important things in life: love, passion, friendship and living. And the way that these elements were sewn together magically speaks to its audience. It's such an inspirational story. It somehow pushes you to ask yourself, "what are the important things in my life? What choices should I make?" Acting-wise, Shibasaki Kou and Satoshi Tsumabuki gave very very compelling performances! You wouldn't believe Kou could speak unless you heard it yourself. She was very believable. I think the entire drama was done in good taste, no overbearing elements, down to the last minutest detail.
