Kimi wa Petto [きみはペット] this is a very sweet, agreeable little drama. yes, the premise is beyond ridiculous, but you wont care about that once you see the winning chemistry between koyuki and matsumoto jun. they both play very endearing characters whom you will genuinely feel for from the getgo.
koyuki is a very expressive actress, and if she does overact in some scenes, its good overacting. matsumoto jun is just too cute for words, anyone with warm blood will find it hard not to fall in love with his character.
Love generation [ラブジェネレーション] A true jdrama classic, and will remain one for years to come. along with long vacation, love generation is a genre-defining drama that would spawn dozens of copies for years to come, though to varying degrees of sucess, it never gets as good as the origional.
Romantic and sometimes cloying, but never sappy and overly melodramatic, this is the perfect romcom. the pacing is great; fast, and hits all the right notes. this is a drama for everyone, even if you're not a diehard romantic like me, watching it will put a smile on your face. the innocence and hopefulness of the story really is infectious.

Hayami Mokomichi [速水もこみち] caught my eye in gokusen 2, really stands out among the cast members because of his height. very handsome too, acting is kinda spotty but im sure he'll have alot of oppertunities for improvement in the future.
actually, he also reminds me alot of the lead character in a taiwanese drama 'outsiders'.
Kaname Jun [要潤] not the most polished thespian per se, but is so impossibly handsome(killer jawline too) that you wont be able to notice anything but his beautiful face whenever he's on screen.
ps: that picture on his profile does not do him any justice at all.
Nagase Tomoya [長瀬智也] He's very handsome, that goes without saying. acting could use some improvement though.
Takenouchi Yutaka [竹野内豊] has got to be one of the most charismatic actors to have ever graced japanese television screens, and is so darn good looking that it should be illegal. the man also has killer screen presence and manages to be better than the material almost everytime. one of the finest actors of his generation.

Itoshi Kimie [愛し君へ] enough tears to drown in [Rating: 7/10] weepy, horribly melodramatic dramas arent really my cup of tea, but i can understand their appeal. if you like to see beautiful people torture themselves(and eachother) emotionally, then this is this drama for you. this isn't as over the top and ridiculous as the korean tearjerker 'winter sonata' but its getting there. if you liked that drama, you will like this one.
Magari Kado no Kanojyo [曲がり角の彼女] pretty good. [Rating: 7/10] another one of those romantic comedies about a goodlooking working gal who's competent and successful professionally yet facing stagnation in her love life. This drama doesnt cover any new ground in terms of its premise, but its a romantic, funny and likeable 11 episode distraction.
the story begins with our heroine facing some obstacles at work: there's a younger, argueably more attractive coworker determined to have her job, and she's not getting along with her new boss, who just happens to be young, rich and exetremely attractive(we all know where this is going). Then there's her current boyfriend, with whom a happy future is highly doubtful, because he's already married. stir these ingredients together and you have the central conflicts in this drama. From here, the plot goes in obvious directions, but with excellent execution nonethless. Its worth a watch if you enjoy predictable romantic comedies with goodlooking people and the occasional laugh.
Orange Days [オレンジデイズ] sweet and endearing [Rating: 9/10] one of the best television shpws i've ever watched. this drama has a perfect combination of good direction, competent acting and a simple but solid storyline. both leads were completely believable in their respective characters and their emotional scenes together rarely resulted to overwrought hysterics(unlike many other dramas in its genre). kou shibasaki is a great actress, she is pefect in this role, and the sign language aspect of it must have been difficult to memorize, but she did it so naturally. and tsumabuki satoshi is just a genuinely likeable actor, he seems so sincere and real in his role that i found myself wishing "if only such a perfect human being existed in real life.g overall, this is a sweet and engaging coming of age drama, its kind of formulaic, yes but also very very cute and endearing. if you have to watch a jdrama at all, it should be this one.
