Finished both "Big Money" and "Kaidan Botan Doro". And totally loved both of them.

Started "Rich Man, Poor Woman" (again per a recommendation, 'cause normally I would have avoided anything with such a title). After 5 minutes I thought "OMG that guy is such a despicable piece of sh*t!", and by the end of the episode my first impression was totally confirmed. I don't care if he has a condition and if he was abandoned or whatever other trauma he may have had; nobody, I repeat, NOBODY should treat anyone like that, particularly NOT a woman. I want to shoot him in the balls - provided I could find 'em, as guys who treat women like that don't have any imo - and I want to do it using dumdum bullets. Shoot

Hahaha. Yeah, it was a pretty meh drama. I did like Oguri Shun in it though.

He's also in Tokyo Sentimental, which I'm currently watching. It's a cute and light-hearted drama that also serves as a mini guided tour of Tokyo. Takahata Mitsuki is great as the sassy assistant, and Yoshida Kotaro is suitably goofy with an overactive imagination.

I think the two specials are subbed, if you're talking about Senju no Koi and Ochanomizu no Koi. I have not seen subs for the very first SP.

Oh, yeah, you're absolutely right! Only the subs for the first SP are still missing... Bonk

Before starting with the "Tokyo Sentimental" series, I decided to watch the first SP from 2014 even though it's still unsubbed - therefore I can't say I've understood everything - alas, not even close... Beaten
Nevertheless, the story was pretty easy to grasp (also because, being 46 myself, those situations felt awkwardly familiar, LOL!), the acting great, the music fabulous. Although I'll take a seaside or rural setting over an urban one every day of the week, still I have to say I appreciated how they went and showed some more relaxing, lesser known and imho much nicer Tokyo neighborhoods than the overly used and, at least to me, overly obnoxious Akihabara, Shinjuku etc.
Can't wait to watch the following series now! Thanks again, junny! ^__^

Finished Lupin no Musume. Hung in there for Watabe Atsuro, who was suave. Fukada Kyoko is still shit after all these years, and I cringed whenever she tried to emote in front of Seto Koji - her face looked stuck.

Yeah, can someone msg her that dancing and wearing tights are not her forte.....her legs are too short.

As much as I dread her acting and pseudo-kawaii voice, she always picks the genre that I enjoyed most. And her co-stars are getting younger with each new drama she's in.

Watched "Kanzarashi ni Koishite" and LOVED it! Victory! Peace!
It's the first time I actually appreciated Kanjiya Shihori's acting! Since I couldn't honestly ascribe that to my getting softer with age (leveling with y'all, I'm afraid it's more like the opposite and I'm getting grumpier, LOL), this means she actually WAS good in this dorama SP! And so was Endo Kenichi! Also thanks to a beautifully written script which managed, in such a short time, to touch some big issues like the neverending love/hate relationship between city and countryside, the different approaches people may have to work and work ethics, and more in general, the respect we should always have for others in order to fully function as a society. Once again I ended up totally loving a "regional dorama" - gee, I wish there were, like, a list of those somewhere, so as to make it easier for us fans to find these lil' gems!

Kirin ga Kuru episode 20. It's finally Okehazama next episode. Kazama Shunsuke was great in that last scene, wish he is given more substantial roles. Sometani Sota's Nobunaga stood out too. The rest of the drama is rather ordinary, but I like the commoners like the medical practitioners.

There might be a little bit of a delay. NHK announced this back in May, and I haven't heard anything about them resuming production.

"NHK will suspend the broadcast of its Taiga drama "Kirin ga kuru" for the time being until further notice due to filming disruptions caused by the COVID-19 situation; this will take place after Ep 21 is shown on 7 June 2020"

Finished RMPW, tried to post a review but I keep getting a "spam detected" message and I have no idea why... Puppy Dog Eyes

Started "Yareta Kamo Iinkai"...pretty weird but funny at the same time...the martial arts judge rocks, LOL Mr Green ...though I just can't stand the übercold businesswoman, always voting against, never showing an emotion...and before anyone jumps at me and accuses me of sexism, I would've disliked an emotionless businessman just the same - matter of fact, I just despise icy corporate types, regardless of their sex... Sweat

Looks like they'll be starting up again at the end of the month.

"NHK will resume filming of its Taiga drama "Kirin ga kuru" starting on June 30th. Production had been suspended since April 1st due to the COVID-19 situation."

Has anyone watched Shiyakushou or read the manga? Anyone knows who murdered the protagonist's daughter?

I've watched "Shotenin Michiru no Mi no Uebanashi" meanwhile...what to say, I have mixed feelings somehow. As a matter of fact, despite not having had any particular expectation regarding this dorama, I got drawn in right away from the very first minutes, as it started with a huge "BANG!". The series went on being very interesting and enjoyable until around the middle of its run, then - at least, as far as I'm concerned - it took a turn for the worse, went downhill and by the time it reached its conclusion I was left with a "meh" aftertaste...:/

Bishoku Tantei is back on track! It's such a good feeling to be able to follow it again, which is a strange thing to say for a drama I hadn't intended to watch at the beginning. But I like the quirky development and am feeling more invested in the characters. Akechi and Ichigo are cute together, and I am finally liking Nakamura Tomoya's acting (or maybe it's just his character).

On the last legs of Tokyo Sentimental. Still nice and slow, sometimes funny, other times bittersweet. My two favourite characters are still Takahata Mitsuki's Akane and the sobaya owner Araki, played by Oguri Shun.

Started (and finished in a matter of days, LOL) "High Position"...I LOVED it! Applaud
Maybe it's because I'm 46 and single myself (although, in my case, not because I got divorced, LOL). And maybe it's because of the uncanny resemblance between the ML's high-school crush and my high-school crush of 30 years ago (ok, "mine" was blonde, blue-eyed and freckled, but everything else - body figure, shape of the face, cheeckbones, ears, nose, profile, hairstyle, hands, character etc. - was strikingly similar). And maybe (and more seriously) it's because, let's be honest - who wouldn't want to have a second chance at youth with the consciousness and experience of an adult (only the consciousness, therefore minus the beer-belly and the receding hairline, LOL)?
Whatever the reason, I was hooked right away and this dorama left a huge impression on me (I'm not ashamed to admit that by the end my eyes were wet!).
A simple yet not shallow premise, nicely developed throughout the series and masterfully wrapped up in the last episodes. At times I laughed, and at times I was moved. Huge congrats to the author(s)!
The cast (although I'll shamefully admit, mostly unknown to me) did a great job too (with only one notable exception, that is the 16 y.o. version of the ML's wife - I found that idol-turned-actress waaaaaay below par, sorry - one more example of the nefarious influence of the idol-system on acting quality...but that's another story).
The music was also a very nice element, needless to say, and so were the 80's references!
All in all, a perfect 10 as far as I'm concerned! Hidden gem! ^___-

After "Arimura Kasumi no Satsukyu" I had felt...cleansed!
After this, I feel like I desperately need the soul equivalent of a long, warm, scrubbing-all-over shower! Shake Head

pash, Yeah, "Queen's Classroom" is one that there was no middle of the road. People either really liked it or really hated it.

For a change of pace, maybe try "Marumo no Okite": https://jdorama.com/drama.marumo-no-okite.1629.htm

Two little kids, a talking dog, and Sadao Abe. Sounds pretty farfetched, but you might want to give it a chance.

Or, if you want to see Mirai Shida, the girl in "Queen's Classroom" in something else, try "Seigi no Mikata": https://jdorama.com/drama.seigi-no-mikata.1312.htm
