South Korean movie "Parasite" wins Palme d' Or at Cannes Film Festival
The South Korean film “Parasite” has won the Palme d’Or award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The film written and directed by Bong Joon-Ho becomes the first ever South Korean film to win the top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. “Parasite” is a dark comedy about an unemployed family who takes a keen interest in a wealthy family.
This is the second year in a row an Asian film has won the Palme d' Or. Last year's winner was the Japanese film "Shoplifters" directed by Hirokazu Koreeda.
“Parasite” will be released May 30, 2019 in South Korea.
