Spike TV is about to start running a Japanese Game show they are calling:

Hey! Spring of Trivia

I have no idea what the real title might be.

It starts it's run tonight, thurs. the 11th 11pm to Midnight.

The Yahoo guide says they are half hour episodes and Spike is going to run two back to back on Thursdays.

Has anyone heard of the show?

Any comments?

All I can say is that I actually wouldn't mind watching the show if it was dubbed ala MXC with the funny comments. Beaten

Or is this going to be an original American production? Sweat

I remember someone posting about this show a while back, but I don't know which thread it was in. Crazy

I did some searching and found this page on Fuji's site: http://wwwc.fujitv.co.jp/en/program/new_prog/v_fountainoftrivia.html

I also read another article that said the dubbing will be a direct translation of the show a-la Iron Chef.

That's pretty funny coming from the network that did the made up dubs of MXC. hehe

The dialogues on MXC are hilarious.

They actually have clips of the show they used in promos at this page. http://www.spiketv.com/shows/series/hey/episode_1.jhtml The frozen eraser one is cool. Too bad I don't have liquid nitrogen around me.

Hmmm. I can enjoy the dubbing on Most Extreme... becaue they actually threw away the audio on that show and wrote some funny stuff.

It's sort of like watching Woody Allen's "What's up Tiger Lilly"

But as I said in the poll thread about subbed or dubbed programs... I find it difficult to watch dubbed shows.

Ah well. I'll give it a watch. You never know where one of your favorites will pop up as a celebrity contestant.

Found some of the old "Triva" shows on YouTube. Here's one of my favorites, the tire/ski jump: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_GX2_WFq2o

I'm still looking for the one where they drop a bowling ball from 100 meters in the air on a trampoline.

I have never seen MXC or Takeshi's Castle without dubbing (dictionary at hand) or with subtitles, but I'll bet it was raunchy and untranslatable. Smile
