Wah!!! I finally watch Zettai Kareshi... wow I'm not expecting that I would love this drama so much....this is my new favorite romance drama...rikko and night are so cute together...I love mokomichi...I love this drama...I don't care if it's realistic or not as long as I enjoyed it and I love the song...I love night I hope there's a man like him in reality..hehe
I also watched SP and gosh I cried a lot in rikko and night last conversation when rikko run to him and he just smiled and push her back
In terms of the SP not adding anything new, I agree with issy to a certain extent -

It's true that Riiko was once again caught in the same confusing emotions, and it was pretty unfair to Soshi, as well... I did like her a bit less because she was still so indecisive, after three years and a marriage proposal! However, the main thing that was new with this was that Riiko and Night were able to say goodbye. Rather than unrealistically promising each other forever, and being parted because Night's parts stopped working, it was a conscious choice on both their parts to say goodbye. They both realized that to stay together would just be perpetuating a fantasy that would only lead to pain in the future - which neither of them was willing to face, especially Riiko, in the drama.
Plus, it was just fun to see them in their roles again. More candy.
I have just watched the series and the special in a row and I do not think at all that the sp was redundant. Yes, it covered the same themes in general but how could it not?
Other than that, episode 11 and the special are quite different.

Ep 11 made it clear that Riko went for Night all the way (even giving up her dream for him). Had he not "died", she would have never left Japan and tried to live with him happily ever after.
The special turned the prerequisites around. She went on with her life (just like Night told her to). And then she is presented with an unique opportunity of reviving the passed away loved one.
You can not do this with humans ... and time has moved on ... but still, if you could revive your loved one (or mother for the sake of argument), would you not do it?
And it not that she went for the "revival", the decision was made for her in the end.
But while watching the drama for me two other questions came up:
1. Where is the sex?
I really feel the writers missed out on some great scenes by omitting any sex related story. Come on, at the beginning of the series Riko sees Night just as a household appliance. You can not tell me she is not tempted to try out this unmistakably "fantastic lover". And it would create a grand scene when Night tells Soshi, how he is able not only to give out 28 different kind of massages but also how he can "satisfy a woman in 40 diffent ways". That would also explain Soshi's insecurity toward Riko's feelings a bit more and it would add towards his jealousy. His "How can I lose to a robot?" feelings could turn into "How can I possibly compete with this perfect machine?".
2. Why can't they all live together?
Seriously, there are so many advantages in having a robot in a love triangle! Night should be fine as long as he is together with his love and she is happy at the same time, even if it is with another human! Soshi could probably live with this as well, Night is a robot after all. And for Riko it should be heaven: a robot to always protect her and a man to have kids and grow old with and she loves both of them.

After a few years of watching no JDramas at all, I had decided to watch Zettai Kareshi because the story seemed interesting to me. And must I say, I do not regret it for a second. It's a series that is fun of joyous moments, but also a number of moments during which some people might cry. Definitely a show I would recommend to anyone interested in romantic JDramas. Oh, and the Special...? It's fun, but was not really necessary, honestly.
