Whoever mentions "Yuusha Yoshihiko To Maou No Shiro " in this thread, thanks.
It really makes my day. So . I have never seen a fluffy koala attack a martial arts exponent.
Mine too! After getting so heartwrenchingly broken (in a good way) when watching Soredemo Ikiteyuku, watching Yuusha Yoshihiko will certainly lift up your spirit again!
And I swear, this drama might just be one of the dramas to re-watch over and over again just because there's just too much fun involved! _________________
Kanjani8's 18th single, "365 Nichi Kazoku" out June 8th, 2011!
As it turns out, I watched episode 2 and 3. EstherM wanted to know if it gets better. Well, "better" is a relative term. The 2nd and 3rd episodes didn't have any laugh out loud bad scenes. I guess "tolerable" would be a better term. Some of the skullduggery going on in the inner court was kind of interesting. But that ground is covered better in the drama Ooku (http://www.jdorama.com/drama.772.htm) from a few years back.
It doesn't help when one of the main points of the drama is Yukie trying to pass herself off as a man and in every episode another person finds out she's a woman. Kind of defeats the purpose, ne.
And Gackt, who I thought did a good job in Fuurin Kazan is one of the most disgusting, repulsive characters I've seen in awhile!
So, will I keep watching? Dunno, got an awful lot of towels to iron.
I just finished Tempest, since it's only 10 eps, it only took a week to watch. To me it kinda felt like a low-budget taiga. I'm not a Japanese history buff, so I admit the story wasn't all that interesting to me.
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
As far as Yukie's character failing to pass off as a man. To me it's like she really failed at everything she wanted to accomplish. At first, she (rightfully so) felt that she wasn't giving the same rights as the men. But she didn't do anything about it, when she was in the royal court. By the end of the show I thought she was going to prove something, like that women are just as smart as men. Not really, she ends up a single mother. And the last ep was like a remake of the first couple of eps.
I'm watching Detective Conan 2011. Watching Shinichi solve cases at the crime scene is fascinating and riveting, but Ran (his love interest) and her father just about gets on my nerves.
Verdict after watching 3 episodes - watch if you don't mind wimpy, bimbotic and idiotic sidekicks.

I ended up watching it all as well. Pretty bad, I'm still trying to figure out that scene at the end with Yankumie and Tanihara singing to each other as the sun sets. What the hell?? Were they trying for a Japanese version of Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy??

Episode 5 of Control, enjoying it more for really no reason, it's been an enjoyable watch though there's really nothing special about it. _________________

Just finished the last episode of Merry xmas in summer, after putting it off for around 2 weeks. Like the first few episodes a lot but story was ordinary for the rest of the series. Nakatani Miki stole the show and I also like Kato Ai a lot in this.

Finished the second Detective Conan special from 2006. I have to say, I do love the cast. Oguri Shun fits the role of Kudo Shinichi perfectly, and Kurokawa Tomoka is cute as his love interest. I only wished they actually made it a series with this cast. Now onto Detective Conan 2011. _________________
The old "former-school-classmates-meet-at-reunion-will-they-get-back-together" storyline. The characters are all the ones we've seen before, but it's got Hitomi Kuroki and no spiky haired stick boys so I'll keep watching. It's always bothers me with this type, and they've done it here as usual, Kuroki's husband is somebody she'd never marry in a million years and the old classmate she had a thing for is a hundred times better than the guy she married.
Edit: Just finished episode 2. I can pretty much see where this is going. It's not going to be anything great but it's nice watching real adult actors for a change.

Finally finished the tanpatsu Wagaya no Rekishi. Filled with some pretty good actors, more so the women. Kou Shibasaki turned in a good performance.
I guess this mini-series took advantage of the "nostalgia boom" created by the film Always San-chome no Yuhi, which I think was still better overall, although that was a theatrical production not a television series.
I enjoyed the historical aspects of the story, as with other stories like Karei naru Ichizoku and Fumo Chitai.

Your JDorama-name is Sun Shang Xiang? Can I just say I love that?!
Romance of the Three Kingdoms is my favorite literary work, and Sun Shang Xiang is, my favorite female character in Anchien Chinese history! We should be friends...

Finished up Control, like I mentioned really nothing special about it, too predicatable and some weak storylines but the last 4 episodes were fairly good, despite the problems with it actually enjoyed it, worth a watch if you're wavering on it but could have been a bit better. _________________

Up thru episode 6 of Dosokai. As expected, Kuroki's husband is turning into an even bigger jerk, although for me the most interesting character might be Yuki Saito as Yoko.

Happy to be friends with you Aya Man 1988 and it's great to hear from people who also love the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, although I didn't expect to hear from any on this board. Sun Shang Xiang is actually my favorite character from Dynasty warriors game series, the first character I ever tried was Guan Yu but he was a bit slow for my style of play (running away as fast as I can from the enemy ! )and SSX is a pretty quick character. My favorite Shu character is Zhao Yun and my favorite Wu character is Sima Yi .

Seems like we both enjoy the Dynasty Warriors-games, then. Can't wait for 7: Xtreme Legends! And my favorite Wu character is Sun Shang Xiang, my favorite Shu character is Zhao Yun, as well. My favorite Wei character would have to be Zhen Ji, I think. For Jin, I choose Sima Zhao and for the other secion, I would say the choice would have to be a combination of Lu Bu and Diao Chan.
But this isn't really the right place to talk about all that. We're going off-topic!
Which platform do you play on? PlayStation 3? Or Xbox 360? Because It'd be an honor to add you on either of the online networks...
And on-topic:
I'm currently watching no Drama's. Shame on me!
