Saji Kazunari is the first son of Saji Nobukata and Lady Inu (Oinu-no-kata). Lady Inu is said to be Nobunaga's favorite younger sister besides Lady Ichi. Nobukata died in a battle when Kazunari was only five. He immediately became the successor of the Saji clan, then.
Thanks to ingesz, I found interesting facts regarding Gou and Saji Kazunari's marriage. The divorce details was apparently found together with the historical records that Kazunari was banished from the Ono castle, right after Hideyoshi won the Komaki-Nagakute battle (that will soon happen in tomorrow night's episode ).
HOWEVER, there was never any records of WHEN and WHY Gou was married to Saji Kazunari. Apparently, the prediction that Gou was married to Kazunari just a few months before Komaki battle, and that it was arranged by Hideyoshi, was ONLY A THEORY, the most common theory.
In 2010, there had been debates between the historians of WHEN and WHY Gou got married to Saji Kazunari, including arguments that it might only be an engagement, and that they never really got married at all. One of the recent theory says that after Nobukata's(Kazunari's father) death, Oda Nobunaga arranged Lady Inu to marry another person, so he needed another marriage to strengthen an alliance with the Saji clan, and so Gou was married/engaged to Saji Kazunari when she was 1 year old (1574), arranged by Nobunaga.
After the Komaki battle, Saji Kazunari escaped and asked help to his uncle, Oda Nobukane at Ise-Ueno. Not long after, Nobukane arranged him to marry Nobunaga's daughter, U(Oshin?). He had 1 son from Oshin. No concubines. Hmm... seem like quite a sabishii life, after the Komaki battle XD
According to Gou's wiki page, a history book I have "101 Mysteries of Ogou & Tokugawa Hidetada", and a TV show titled "Sengoku & Bakumatsu Mystery", Gou and Saji Kazunari actually had 2 daughters. WIKI stated their names as Kita and Nui. The "101" book explains that this is a theory circulated among the people of Aichi prefecture (where Ono castle was at), that Gou and Kazunari were separated 5 years after the Komaki battle, and Gou had to leave her daughters in Saji clan. The first daughter, Kita, having lost her mother, was so depressed that she commited suicide. Their 2nd daughter lived a secluded life at Kyoto.
If this is true, then Gou had given birth to a roundup total of 10 babies However, zannen, there's no strong evidence for this theory.
According to Hira Takehiro, the actor who plays Saji Kazunari, there had been talks with the producer that since Saji Kazunari never died in battle and live on for quite a long time, he might appear again in Episode 40s
I really thought that she separated with Kazunari-sama because he died in the war. It'll be really sad just bcoz you lose you can't meet your wife again.
I've already like Kazunari-sama in thi dorama within precious 4 minutes near-to end in episode 12. But then on travelogue sessions mention that they both had lost their parent, make then easier to connect, make me fall for them. IDK if I can face the separation (again after read the spoiler) without....

^ I seem to remember Liubeibei commenting that he chose to make an exception for "Gou" and "O-ne" due to the similarity with the English words.
The TV-subbers though seem to be doing the exact opposite...

Yup.
Don't understand the inconsistency.
The reasons I can think of are maybe they outsourced the scripts to different translators and they didn't get on the same page, and/or the proofreader dropped the ball.

He doesn't fit the role at all.
Why do you think so?^^
I'm indifferent about AKIRA. Never seen him acting before. And I dunno much abt Toyotomi Hidekatsu, just from the novel, seem like he speaks his mind freely and likes to laugh alot. I dunno abt his acting/portrayal or his chemistry with Juri-chan. But as far as he looks, he's quite okay, I guess.
Ep14 rating is 19.2%!! It's recovering bit by bit!! Or is it because of Kazunari-sama??^v^ _________________

Lol, so you prefer the shaved ones?
bmwracer wrote:
Secondly, he's way too tan/dark... Is he from Okinawa or something?
Since Hidekatsu is directly related to Hideyoshi (nephew and uncle), I would say, that fits in the Hashiba/Toyotomi family characteristics requirement^^ Monkey-like face and tanned, lol. Just that AKIRA is the handsome version of monkey-like face

Yeah, it's rather superficial.... He just doesn't have that right aura, IMO.
Do you mean the "lord" aura? Hidekatsu was born in a farmer family, I don't think we can expect more.
Or maybe you just have a problem with him like I have with Etsushi Toyokawa
Don't worry, he's just the 2nd husband, only appears from Ep17, probably to Ep24-25. Not much of appearances too, based on the novel. (but that might change in the drama)
Just hope you won't have problem with Mukai Osamu, coz he'll be the male lead for the latter half of the series XD _________________

Probably the latter: More with the actor than the role.

I like Mukai... Haven't seen him in many dramas, but I did like him in his role in Nodame.

GOU-HIDETADA, FTW, for me!! No matter how nice Saji Kazunari is, Hidetada is definitely Gou's HOME
Interesting critic article on GOU's Hideyoshi:
GOU ~Himetachi no Sengoku~ Episode 14
Kishitani Goro's Hideyoshi pierced through the "foolish lord" character translated by yanie
Click on button to reveal/hide spoiler:
Episode 14 of GOU titled "Rien seyo"(Divorce) was aired on April 17. This episode tells how Gou and her first husband, Saji Kazunari, got married and then got divorced. Her short marriage life with the first husband was told in one episode, but Hashiba Hideyoshi's wickedness stood out more in this episode.
GOU's Hideyoshi had been criticized as a "Foolish(Ridiculous) Lord" so far. Sen-no-Rikyu (Ishizaka Koji) can see through his secret intentions, One (Otake Shinobu) is always in disbelief with everything he has done, and he always shows disgraceful/shameful behaviours in front of Ishida Mitsunari (Hagiwara Masato). He lacks the basic charms of Hideyoshi that got him chosen by Oda Nobunaga, which are quick-witted and skill in deceiving people. Even if it's a standard procedure, that Toyotomi Hideyoshi is described as the evil one among the Three Great Heroes of Sengoku, like one of his bad side which he shows in the Imjin War and all, but it is very unusual for an adaptation to make him look so bad even before he become the ruler of Japan.
The problem of GOU's Hideyoshi is, he looked like a fool straight from the beginning. He has a wicked intention of wanting to make Ichi and Chacha as his. In this drama, Hideyoshi's mind seem to be only about that. Although he always deny it in public, but every character around him can easily see that intention. And this drama lacks the points of why a sharp and able person like Ishida Mitsunari can be loyal to this Hideyoshi.
However, Hideyoshi in this episode have started to act the way he suppose to be. Hideyoshi forced Gou to separate from her husband, but he used a mean planned scheme. And then he confessed his planned scheme in front of Gou, Chacha, Hatsu, One and Mitsunari. He let Gou to feel angry toward himself, and he seem to be in joy to see Gou getting angry. Apparently this Hideyoshi is a pure evil without any good points left. However we can consider the fact he confessed about his scheme as honesty. It's quite a contrast with the part when he was lying to Gou that the marriage was to stop the war with Oda Nobukatsu.
Maybe we can say that his character of "I'll do what I want", "I'll get what I want" is his evil charms. It is one of the reason why the brutal dictator, Hideyoshi, became the popular "TAIKO-san". In terms of that, we can say that this episode is the turning point of where Hideyoshi started to show his trueself to people around him. The flashy Osaka castle which was the reflection of Hideyoshi's interests and preferences, has just been completed as well in this episode. The more honest Hideyoshi is one of the highlight of the story from now on.
I'm sorry for the rough translation, pls correct me if I made mistakes.
Not sure of the writer's intention though... maybe he's just trying to say that GOU's Hideyoshi is not that wrong/bad, afterall? XD _________________

biggest leap so far from last episode 16.6%
YES, totally Kazunari-sama' effect
ps: thank you for the twitter link
I saw him at Voice, but he was playing kinda serious role. might watch Hanayome no Papa too because of that
oh~ they really had short marriage (less than 45 minutes - literally). only watch that 5 minutes clip, but why kazunari-sama not fight for gou to come back, he should known the divorce was forced by saru. Was there's some law at that time that prohibited that action? I was kinda hope he'll fight for gou cause their love has gotten stronger *drama plot* And why gou not just runaway back to Ono castle. also feel like Gou is hopeless and just sit and take that as fate *guess need to watch full time*
not enough of kazunari-sama...
watch Hira Takehiro visited Saji Kazunari (aka Ono Castle)
