We just had the Blizzard of 2009! I just finished shoveling lots and lots of snow! So the next time you sing or hear this song on the radio "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" think of all of us on the East Coast.

I've heard. My friend is visiting his brother in Virginia by way of Charlotte Int'l Airport...he made it to Charlotte albeit late, and his flight from North Carolina to Virginia got cancelled due to the storm. He said it's a big friekin' mess out there for travelers
Must be nice if you're warm and toasty hunkered down at home tho'.

I hear you! We are a little bit in an emergency state here in Europe. Lots of airports are closed, the Eurostars arenLt circulating and highways are blocked.
ItLs sad because many people need to go home for x-mas and are stuck.

It is amazing how many airports on the East Coast were closed due to this blizzard Tu. I hope your friend finally got to his destination safely.
Yes staying in on a cold, wintery day is very nice indeed especially when you buy your favorite snacks before the storm arrives. :

So sorry to hear that EstherM. I was so busy getting ready for our storm that I didn't pay attention to the world news. I hope you are able to have a wonderful safe time during the holidays.
I have my personal theory on why this blizzard hit the whole East Coast of the USA on the last big spending, I mean shopping, weekend before Christmas. Maybe we are supposed to focus on the real meaning of this holiday and not the greed aspect of it. Hmmm just a thought for your consideration.

Thanks for the kind thoughts, E. In fact my buddy just text messaged me and he finally got an airplane heading down to Virginia a few minutes ago, 2 days late...better late than never I guess
Yup, I imagine all those ppl living on the East Coast stockpiled all the necessities prior to the storm hitting. The shelves must have been bare at a lot of grocery stores!

Wise words Enna!
My friends from Switzerland are still stuck in Brussels - they might have to stay yet another night at my place.
