I suppose it's a good/great marketing ploy, but it's still crap.
Very good viewership ploy indeed. Your announcement to not watch Ep. 9's preview made me chuckle. If anything it will just make viewers watch it. I didn't think it was too much of a spoiler.
That being said... goodness the last half of ep8 <3 Amazing acting all around!
Agreed... It was pretty solid.
One more comment about the preview for Episode 9:

I'm more than sure that the beat down that Sosuke puts on Takeru will be at or near the end of Episode 9, carrying it into Episode 10 for more ratings, much to the chagrin of the viewers.
And you've gotta think that Takeru will be the one to die with those events happening at this point in the drama...
The big question is will the writers take the tragic route and have Takeru die with its effects rippling through the remaining cast or will they take the feel-good route and have Sosuke die, which is what everyone is hoping for (myself included)...?

So are we gonna do an odds and over/under on the death finally or what? I think we're getting to that point where they're going to be doing it in episode 10, so we may as well get that out there before the actual thing happens!

I still hold to my choice of Takeru going down by suicide. I have this creepy feeling that Michiru is going to side with Sousuke on that spoiled beatdown, which would be the final straw for him to take matters in his own hands *ahem*

The debate has been on and off in th D-Addicts thread in this regard, with the gay members there insisting she is a lesbian, but as several episodes have shown, she seems to have Gender Identity Disorder (GID), implying she's transgender....

The way I see it...

Ruka is a genderless human-being and the one whom she loves just happens to be female. I think that michiru would still be the apple-of-her-eye regardless of which gender she could've/would've been. It doesn't seem fair to so easily assign labels like "homosexual" or "transgender", isn't that what ruka's whole spiel is against anyway?

I'll buy that.... Well said.

If you ever read any of the posts in the D-Addicts thread, some members are almost vehement that she's a lesbian, as if she were some kind of emancipator or standard bearer for all lesbians...

Why would Takeru take himself out?

Better question: Why WOULDN'T he? Think of the amount of pain and suffering he's gone through, the mistreatment, and the family-related issues he's been revealed to have had in the past. I'm not saying I WANT him to go down like that, but it is an issue that would pretty much bring all the other ones full circle (domestic violence, child abuse, depression, alternative lifestyles/GID).
As for Ruka..

Methinks she's simply a cut and dry case of Gender Identity Disorder, meaning that she's just a girl who thinks and feels like she should be a guy, and feels uncomfortable of just being a female. This goes in line with her wanting to be treated like a guy, how she's disgusted with looking at herself in the mirror, and how she's always distancing herself from guys very quickly.

Sounds like more of a reason why the writer/director would take him out, not the person himself.

Hey, BMW, I'm stopping here from D-Addicts to answer your question. Since I'm a lesbian and all.
Now I'm actually not in the camp of thinking Ruka is hardcore gay. I DO think she will wind up being that but, for now, she simply loves Michiru. In fact she's never made any claims to the counselor of liking any other girls...or boys. To me Ruka just doesn't seem to know yet.

I think Ruka is genderqeer, not transgender, and I seriously hope she doesn't go ahead with surgery. Whenever Ruka speaks to anyone regarding gender she doesn't talk about wanting to be male. Have you noticed that? She's gonna get surgery, but she doesn't pack or bind and she hasn't been trying to pass herself off as male? Huh? In the States you have to live for a year (I believe) as the opposite sex before even being considered for a sex change op.
Being genderqueer means Ruka desires to be neither gender but both. The way she describes herself- wanting to be free of a prescribed gender, feeling free of that while biking, not wanting Hayashida to think of her as male or female- makes her sound pretty much like a lot of very boyish lesbians I know.
This is just my educated feeling, but probably the writers of LF will go and muck it up because they don't fully understand what being genderqueer vs. trans vs. plain old lesbian is all about.

Hey... I was wondering if and when you'd show up... Had a hunch.

Thanks for the info... The question really crossed my mind today and browsing through Wiki didn't completely answer the question...

Please don't use the abbreviation "Jap" ...It's considered derogatory.
