That is not exactly true.
In fact in Germany, since mid 2001, there is a flat "copyright" fee of 6 Euros for every cd/dvd burner imported/sold . In addition each cdr/rw and dvdr/rw blank media is charged with 7,2 Euro cent per 1 hour playtime for CDs and 8,7 Euro cent per 1 hour playtime for DVDs. And it seems those greedy people over at GEMA (Germanys version of RIAA) still want more.
Anyways. Back to the topic
Glad to hear from Ruroshin that some issues seem to be resolved and the return of d-addicts is not that unlikely.

However, its likely that I will be moving the site to a different dedicated server. So its going to be delayed a bit longer but better to do it now rather than when the site is all settled in. It'll also give me more time to work on the distributed code. |
The URL will be the same correct? Or are you going to just set up a redirect?

groink, currently i'm able to post at the forum and seed some things (so far i've only tried torrents on the first tracker) do you know if we'll be able to keep these torrents going after everythings up to speed?

I can't connect to d-addicts right now (the DNS on the Navy network may not be propagated just yet), so I can't say for sure what will happen. The state of the torrents all lie in whether or not the announce URL will be EXACTLY as what's embedded in them. So three things could happen:
1) The announce URL stays exactly the same. No worries!
2) The announce URL changes, but Ruroshin can change the URL in the torrents.
3) The announce URL changes, and Ruroshin can't change the URL in the existing torrents. So an upload of fresh new torrents with the correct announce URL would be necessary.
Which of the three will prevail? Hard to say from my end. I'll have to wait awhile before I go home and access d-addicts from my Road Runner connection.
