No, I don't have any of the Gokusen eps (other than 1,2 and the special which are already done).
And I'm not fluent in Japanese , I probably only know maybe a thousand or so common words and phrases, so I'm not anywhere good enough to translate a whole episode myself. I can usually tell what's going, and I can tell when subtitles are good or bad though I think I might have an especially hard time with the yakuza slang in this series. It's actually one of the attractions to me, I really want to find out what Yankumi is saying when she accidentally starts talking like a yak
But I am good at English spelling and grammar, so I like to think I'm a good editor/quality checker. I can also do encoding and timing and other technical stuff.

ok maybe you can do some timing then. but first i did to contact Quatregael to see how he/she is doing with the translation process.
we will see from there. _________________
Episode 1 is 656.63 MB, Emi. Are you using Media Player or something else, b/c I've never had any problems...
Hmm I redownloaded the file from the same place I got it before (I had deleted my previous version because I couldn't get it to play) and this time I managed to get it to play past the part it would always die on before, but the picture was pretty choppy. I am thinking maybe I am having a codec issue or something. Or my computer is crappy ^_^

BTW: Wow! I'm so suprised that you appeared! I'm a huge fan of your Gokusen page! It's what convinced me to finally go out and buy the drama. Also, your Cowboy Bebop page has always been worshipped for a long time.
Hey, thanks ^^ I made my page right after I watched the drama for the first time because I loved the series so much, and could find almost no information about it at all. There were no other pages for it @_@ I like making pages for series that don't have much exposure! (When I started my bebop page in late 98/early 99 there were no other bebop pages either ^^ And thanks to the Gokusen anime, I have lots of motivation to update the gokusen page a lot. I just recently added several screencaps of MatsuJun's appearance in character as Shin in Sakurai Sho's drama series 'Yoiko no Mikata'. So amusing to see Shin (and Kuma!) meeting Taiyo-sensei ^_^

argghhh too late. i already purchased the region 2 dvds.
thanks for everyone's help though!!!
Ahhh lucky! I wish I could afford those! I want them so badly. I periodically go to jahoo (yahoo japan auctions) and stare wistfully at the listings for the R2 DVDs, wishing I had money ^^

yah they are quite expensive.. i dunno why! for 4 dvds on a regular website its atleast $200.00+!
while american tv shows on dvd, (for a complete season 21 or 22 episodes) only $50!

How about asking Dust Off? Read somewhere that he might be willing to do subs if the file is of good quality...
From what I know about Dust Off, he prefers not to commit to series. He prefers just doing movies and specials that don't require long commitment. He tried it a long while back with Good Luck and it turned out to be sort of a fiasco.

How is this project coming along? I can't wait to see some of the finished work!
BTW, how will it be distributed?
i've tried to contact the original poster that started this forum. he has made no contact with me yet (about his progress translating).
so far i have bought the region 2 dvds, but i am waiting for them through the mail.
most likely they will be released through BT on d-addicts, and also available through my distro by snail mail. _________________

Just PM'd amrayu with some stuff. Sorry I've been gone. Tests and all...
Emi801: Yes! I so want to see 'Yoiko no Mikata'! And wow, your site is even better now. *_* So much stuff...
Vibius: Be my editor! Please please please! I want my subs to be accurate! PM me!
Anyhow, I'm slowly working my way through the series. I have no intentions of giving up on it, so no worries. However, for the sake of speed, it would be great to have translating help...though I very much doubt that's going to happen. Well, I love Gokusen very very much, so it's still alright.

Oh, and for the record: I'm a 'she' not a 'he'.
you might get some help with translating, i rented gokusen with english subs (which i doubt the subs will be the best), but i can re-work those episodes with the japanese that i know and work on some episodes also to help you out. hopefully we can finish in a reasonable amount of time.
for some reason i thought you were a guy not a girl. sorry for my mistake! im a girl also. _________________

Hi I am the current leader of #jdrama (currently @ irc.aniverse.com #jdrama) and yes we are still subbing Gokusen in fact episode 3 should be out soon. we would appreciate any help in translation that we could get. What language can u translate? Japanese or Korean would be the most helpful. You can email me at [email protected] with details. and if some of you need episodes 1 and 2 of Gokusen subbed we have a bot on our backup channel at #jdrama @ irc.rizon.net

That's great. Any plans to release these episodes on the d-addicts BT site? I've never really gotten into IRC. Maybe it's time I learned about it.

I can do a little Japanese, but I'm better at fixing up translations that have already been done. I'll mail you. Maybe all these efforts can be combined?

i believe we will have bt but for those who are not irc literate there are guides all over then net to teach one how to use irc. its quite simple! in fact if u email me i can connect with you over aim or something and teach u its really simple.
but again i would like to stress that right now basically the project is a 2-3 person project. the more staff we can get (translators, and such) the faster we'll be able to put out eps. so please if u can fluently translate japanese or koraen please do email me. [email protected]
or u can find me on irc @

im still gonna go ahead and work with Quatregael and try to release our own version. we've already gotten pretty far, and invested a lot of time/money already. so i'm not gonna quit since another group is doing it.
this will be like a jdorama/d-addicts version.. lol
and will be released on d-addicts. _________________

What about everybody joining up? If #jdrama only has 2-3 people now, and there's you and Q. and me ... I think that could make a nice sized group all together.
I don't mind having 2 groups, but the whole project might go faster if we join up. We could even tag team on episodes, so that one group does evens, the other group does odds, and before one group releases, the other group does an edit/quality check.
Anyhow, I have a lot of free time, so I could help both groups.
