So true, especially from different countries. I have tried Japanese. Canadian, British, Chinese, Mexican, Greek and African beer, just to name a few. Each one tasted different.
I had to laugh, within one hour of us discussing beer, I saw a new Ad on TV from Samuel Adams Brewery that showed a variety of regular folks and a chef discussing which type of S.A. beer they enjoyed drinking with specific foods, i.e steak, grilled spicy salmon, etc.... It was like looking at a wine advertisement. I never knew Samuel Adams had so many different types of beer.

Interesting and each one gave you a different International beer buzz .

I've had about a half-dozen or so beers ever... And none of them were very appealing at all...

I tasted a Shandy when I lived in London many, many years ago. I liked it at the time. I was young then, I am not so sure I would want them messin' up my beer with lemonade now. Are you sure thet didn't use Ting and beer in the Caribbean? |
It's possible. I used to order a beer and end up with a coke or order water and end up with a beer. Either my Spanish phrase book was wrong, we had big accents or they didn't like us. So we started pointing at things instead, that's why I got a shandy. I didn't know it existed and wouldn't have even thought of ordering something like that.
Thank you for the links. That was exactly what I was looking for. _________________

You are welcome tabana.
What Caribbean island were you on? Cuz something tells me that they spoke English and they were just yanking your chain. Maybe you should have given your bartender a bigger tip.
I've been drinking Yerba Mate tea recently. Pretty good stuff!

I was in Dominican Republic. We were in a no tip zone... that might've explain their lack of enthusiasm. Only 1 or 2 of them spoke English. The people I didn't have this problem the year before and a few friends of mine that went the year after were ok too. I never really complain about what's on my plate, so for me it was ok. It became the running gag of our trip. We had a great time. |
I have heard great things about D.R. No complaints from anyone I know who has visited there. Maybe your servers weren't being paid too well by their hotel. Did you bring home some rum?

Honestly, that's not nearly enough to acquire the taste buds for beer. If you drink the domestic garbage from the local 7-11 then it'll take even longer.

That's probably it. One of them was really friendly though. She always came to say hello, even if we weren't sitting at one of her table.

Yup. And cigars too. Gave them to my friends. Found it much cheaper (almost by 5 times) to buy stuff at a local grocery store than those located next to the hotel. It was almost cheaper than water.
Have you ever been in the area? _________________

Actually, it's usually beers that my brother pushes on me to try: Bohemia, Dos Equis, Sapporo, Sam Adams, etc.

Ehhh... no diss on your bro, but i wouldn't drink any of those... Sapporo i'll drink once in a while. I much prefer Orion to Sapporo, unless it's brewed in japan (sorry Ontario)
Your bro seens to like the lagers. I think you may like the ale varieties more, they have less of a 'bite', and are often more complex in taste.

Oddly, he doesn't like Japanese beers... He likes stuff made at those local microbreweries, but can't get 'em on a regular basis...
