Japanese music this old would particularly known to people who are 20 or 30yrs right now. However, some of us would like to share those artists with the newbies to taste different flavors than the J-pop now.

The era would contain artists like: WANDS, Miho Nakayama (now devotes into advertisement and poster girl for Shiseido and other thing she does now is acting, but she used to sing), chage & aska, Southern All Stars, Kudo Shizuka (KimuTaku's wife), Mariya Takeuchi, Sakai Noriko, Miki Imai, etc.

The list goes on, I'll list more, but I'm sure others can share more artists~ Big Grin

You can share your knowledge of artists that grandparents listen back then? It's as compared as Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye, and such.

These are those old time tunes, that usually grandparents would listen to back then.

Titles like:
Sachiko,
Osaka shi gu re,
Nagasaki no Onna,
Sake yo,
Rujiu,
etc.

I'll come back to list a selection of singers and titles of songs, and perhaps rip some tracks of my old CD's to share with you guys~

I go back even further.

I have CDs of Mari Amachi among other singers from the late 1960s and early '70s. I tend to remember song titles rather than singers' names. Here are some of my favorites:

"Nagasaki wa Kyomo Ame Datta"

"Minato Machi Blues"

"Blue Light Yokohama"

"Tenshi no Yuuaku"

"Watashi no Kare wa Hidari Kiki"

"Koi suru Natsu no Hi"

I have some CD's and Cassette of Jpops from the 80's-90's

Kome-Kome Kurabu, The Boom, Chage and Aska, Tatsuro Yamashita Pizzicato five, Shonen-Tai, Shibugaki-tai, Tube, Mr. Children, Oda Kazumasa, Hikaru Genji, B'z and yes..SMAP they started their debut in the mid 90's.

However, my all time classic favorite would be "Kimi ga iru da kede" by Kome-Kome Kurabu..their song was used in a very good J-dorama "Sugao no mama de/Just the way we are"...LOVE IT
