However, as I watched more and more kdramas, I noticed that there's really not much variety... Its getting harder and harder to find a good kdrama nowadays coz most of the new ones are kinda like re-hash of old popular series. |
So true. _________________

Hello everyone!! First time in this forum, very interesting topic. I have discussed this with a lot of people. Is really up to personal preference I think.
I love Jdorama. Is straight-forward, is short, usually only 10 episodes and the storyline is easy to understand. I watched over 200 JDorama already and of course some of the story really sucks but overall, I still prefer JDorama over Kdrama. Also the most important thing is that most of the J actors and actresses are really good-looking and gorgeous.
My mom said Kdrama is for older people Don't yell at me, my mom said that . The point is that I do not prefer KDrama is that usually Kdrama has a sad ending. There's always someone dies in the end or someone is sick. What's that about??
Also, the storyline is always the male character is super rich and fall for someone who's from low-class family. I wonder if there's a lot of rich guys there in Korea falls for poor girls. I doubt it. Cinderella story doesn't happen that often. NO offense but this is really what I think of Kdrama.
Once again, no offense guys. Just personal view.

hi newbie here.
i've watched a couple of kdramas, winter sonata was one of them, before i got hooked on jdoramas. and my opinion, if you've watched one kdrama, you've watched the lot. and with the new kdrama trends emerging nowadays, with the light-hearted none tragic endings, watched one and you've still watched the lot.
jdorama on the other hand is like opening gifts on christmas. always a joy to discover where the story is gonna take you. and i must add, definitely better looking actors overall.
Jdorama's the best!

Hi all *waves*
I'm not a super avid watcher of both types of series (in fact I am more of a Hong Kong/Taiwan series sort of girl, that is if I watch any series at all) but based on the few I've watched, I've already had a preference. ^__^
I definitely prefer J-dramas to K-dramas. I tend to find J-dramas a little less draggy and less dramatic than K-dramas. K-dramas have a tendency to start and end things nicely, but the middle parts will be a drag to get through. Even the wonderful Winter Sonata was fast-forwarded by yours truly in some parts. -_-'' Moreover, I also feel that K-dramas can be very depressing (or maybe it's my own fault for choosing stuff like Winter Sonata and Autumn's Tale ) and the characters cry too often, so.
J-dramas are comparatively shorter, more succint and to the point. I don't recall watching a J-drama that spans more than 20 episodes. I prefer J-drama's style of story-telling.
Of course, then again, I have not watched a LOT of titles, so this might not be a justified opinion, but I definitely prefer J-dramas. =)
