hey, I was wondering if anyone out there gets their Jdorama fix on television. If so where do you live, what's the name of the network, and what do they show? I live in the US, but the only dorama series that comes on are the ones that come on the international channel, and they aren't subtitled.

Hehe! Jdramas being broadcasted at the place where I reside is totally unrealistic, it's far beyond the horizon Cry
All they broadcast are mostly US soaps and some domestic.

Hey there! I don't have cable (okay, I'm a cheapskate) and I get all of my JDoramas from the international station KSCI-18 in Southern California...

Yeah, some of the stuff isn't subtitled (and I still watch it--Duh!), but a lot of it is like Musashi and Trick, which I'm currently watching...

I haven't picked up many Jdoramas online, but I'm starting to, just to gather up all of the Yonekura Ryoko stuff that I can... Mr Green

They're currently airing Musashi here in the Bay Area. I wanted to watch it because Abe Hiroshi and Tsutsumi Shinichi are in it...but there's no subtitle. Sweat

How come there is no subtitle in the series? Since it's being aired in the US. hmm...dramas for the japanese speakin audience? like American born japanese (I suppose they study their native language) and native japanese...

OOPS! MY BUST! Actually, Musashi did have Eng sub. I was confusing "Musashi" with "The Beauty or the Beast" (which is also airing.) "Beauty or the beast" had no subtitles, so I couldn't understand. Since I missed the first few episodes of "Musashi", I couldn't follow the storyline! Sweat Sweat Sweat

My local station broadcasts subbed & un-subbed dramas. I think the programming is intended for Japanese viewers. But since there are some Japanese-Americans who can't speak/understand the Japanese language, they provided some subs for their sake. Besides that point, there are also many non-Japanese viewers watching the programs on that channel. Smile

I tend to miss the first few episodes of the subbed dramas! ARGH!!! Bang Head Shake Head

Confused Musashi and The Beauty and the Beast? Man, you must've been tanked! hehe

Hmm, I think would still be able to follow Musashi even though you missed a couple of episodes... But that's just me, since I'm more than familiar with the story, having read the book and seen the trilogy and other TV series...

I watch B&B before. It's quite nice. I loved Nanako's acting.

I live in Guam so we only get NHK which you have to pay extra, which I don't. NHK's pretty boring anyway. A friend tapes the Jdoramas for me from Hawaii where they have two stations - NGN and KIKU. About a year or two ago, she was sending me Yamato Nadeshiko and at about episode 6 or 7, they had this written announcement at the beginning of the program stating that FUJI TV is prohibiting the station from adding English subtitles because of copyright. So whatever FUJI TV jdoramas shown in Hawaii are no longer subtitles which kind of sucks since FUJI has most of the good shows. Is this the same in California?

When I was still living in GU, NHK was part of the cable package...so we didn't have to pay extra. Now they have to??? That sucks! Shake Head

Yeah, I think it's the same in California. All the dramas that Fuji TV broadcast had no subtitles. Sad
