it's the same thing with me i guess.. i wouldn't like to know that arashi isn't actually as tall as i think them.. |

The problem does not lie only in Takuya, it is more global among asians: over the past years I've always noticed that the profiles of HK stars, Taiwan stars, Chinese stars in general and Japanese stars usually denote a higher height than these stars are in reality. I've made a topic about it on here a few years ago when these messageboards were different and not as popular yet. I think it is because Asians are a bit ashamed of their height, and some want to "glorify" their stars a bit. Not all heights are fakes though, I guess it depends really. Takizawa Hideaki is a beautiful type of star, a star that rose because of his boyish and cute look in Majo no Jouken, thus a shorter height would not really detract from his image and thus they don't have to lie about his height. But Kimura Takuya is more of a cool guy type and a shorter height would not fit well.
Alot of Asian's star profiles should be looked at with a degree of wariness. You just have to use common sense to seperate the fakes from the true ones. Naohito and Sorimachi are DEFINITELY 1.80 as denoted in their profiles. Takuya however is NOT taller than Nanako Matsushima and while not 1.63, he is NOT 1.76 either. There was a serious height difference between him and Takenouchi in LV, and Yutaka is 1.79 (that sounds about correct if you compare him with Sorimachi in Beach Boys and usually he is indeed a bit taller than most Asians in his dramas, but a bit shorter than the likes of Sorimachi and other tall stars so close to 179 is right). Other fakes are for example profiles of Lean Lai (183, 181, etc, lots of different reports, but a friend of mine is a big fan of his and has been to his concerts and seen him life, he's about 178).
In short: Asian Star profiles should NOT be trusted when it comes to height.

I think the average height for males in Japan has gone up the last couple of decades (Hmm, I think I mentioned this before somewhere )...
I'd prefer about 5'-6" (~168cm) or more, but I'm not that picky, particularly if she's gorgeous...

Hmm.
This thread was more of a discussion of Artistes' height, not members...

On topic, this reminds me of threads I've seen about professional athletes.
They are almost always shorter than what is listed on official sports media.
Also, they are almost always heavier than what is listed on official sports media.
Cheers,
PCM
