Based on the book by Josen Takano who himself experienced reviving a depopulated village, this human drama tells the success story of a soon-to-be-deserted village and a great change in people there.
As per his own request, an elite officer at Tokyo Metropolitan Government, Asai (Karasawa) is transferred to the division in charge of the village of Kagura - the Division of Agriculture, Forestry, Commerce and Industry in the Hoshikawa city government. However, Its city mayor, Fukumoto (Ikki Sawamura) is in favor of village's dissolution on the ground of financial difficulties.
Asai, on the other hand, has other plans. First, He wants to revive the village by making Kagura festival into a success. With as little as $100 for its budget, Asai produces some innovative ideas that surprise the city government and village people. His positive attitude to revive the village gradually changes the people around. |
