First is the fact that it's only five episodes combined with the format where each episode is somewhat stand-alone. Also there is a real high quality and beauty to the filming; the muted and whitish color to nearly every scene gives it a really artistic feel. Since each episode tells a different story there is a relatively large cast for only being five episodes, and almost everyone is wonderful. The only problem I have is that the episodes do get progressively worse. It starts out wonderfully bizarre with psychological conditions manifesting into not all that realistic physical phenomena, it's sort of like a very modern, horror-fairytale, it's very original and I loved it, but with each new episode it gets more and more tame. Though there is still plenty of interesting eccentricities, for example there is one murder where the perpetrator just gets away with it, it's clearly wrong and yet there is no judgment about it whatsoever, it's not the sort of thing you see in television very often. But by the final episode, which is the one that ties it all together, it's pretty much just an average murder-mystery, though I must admit that the plot still resolves itself in a bizarre and random way that still left me very happy that someone was willing to create such a unique drama. I'm a big fan of strange and artsy things, and I am usually complaining that drama series would be better if they were half the length, so this is about as good as it gets for me. |

It was interesting to watch this alongside her other Winter 2012 drama, Saigo kara Nibanme no Koi, and see the contrast in her characters so clearly. I was initially fascinated by Aoi Yuu's episode, which was beautifully strange. Yet it seems the tone changed from episode to episode and the grace and mystery gradually faded, to be replaced by a feeling of overwhelming discomfort and confusion. Though I suppose that was the point. It was a fine drama but I think perhaps I wasn't ready for something as unique as this. Overall the cast was great and the episodes in themselves were interesting. There were also moments in the series, such as when Koike Eiko's character confronts the man in the pool, that were so emotionally charged that I could not look away. But as a whole I felt the plot just didn't come together. I was left thinking, "so what?" |

So this is a quite strange drama and I must say it starts our in a superb way (firts episode is just brilliant) and the way everything is filmed is superb as well (colors and greys, lights flickering in intense moments...). Each episode focus on one of the little girls 15 years after the murder, and the final episode... Well, that was quite a letdown; it felt I was watching one of those Sunday evening American TV films, somehow soapy, lacking strength. Anyway acting was pretty good and pace was perfect. I would recommend this one if you like darker-than-usual doramas or if you're fed up with so many colorful, nervous, speedy and happy-ending doramas. |

It was with that spirit that I decided to watch this, and indeed I was granted my fair share of thrills - thanks to a superb photography, to some extremely eery music, and to those über-creepy, flickering shadows on the walls which are a constant presence in this dorama. The problem is, though, that this story is waaay too dark and disturbing for my taste!!! Still, the great cast did, as one would expect, a great job, and I have to admit that, had the last episode been differently developed, and had the most disturbing scenes and details been expunged from the story, this could've been a very good noir indeed. Hence my not too harsh vote. |

The first four episodes were great and I would have rated this higher but the last episode it turned from being a psychological thriller to just another who-dun-it. |
