After her much awaited honeymoon, Izumi Asakura and husband, Kentaro Takasugi return home. Its been 7 years since Izumi started nursing, so she feels like she's a veteran.
Unfortunately for her though, there is a new nurse on the block, and she's really good at what she does!!
At work, Izumi keeps on screwing up, even in front of the new nurse. She even has the new girl teaching her things along the way!
The youngest head nurse at the hospital, Shoko Ozawa, goes into a meeting with the other head nurses, but isn't welcomed by them. And at the nurse station, the senior nurse, Saiko Oshima doesn't seem to be at home either.
The Story
Gripping the steering wheel of a convertible cutting through wind like a knife through butter is Shoko. Sitting beside her in the passenger's seat is Izumi. "You know, Izumi, nobody wears those kind of Hawaiian shirts theses days" Izumi realizes she's having fun poked at her, but her husband Takasugi who is sitting in the backseat is also wearing the same kind of shirt.
Takasugi and Izumi are just as happy as can be. After all, they just returned from their honeymoon. Izumi has always dreamed about a honeymoon with Takasugi, so naturally she's flying higher than can be. "You two just seem so in love" says Maria, the other girl riding in the car with them.
The dream is over now though, because there are people all around Izumi just waiting to make sure she comes back down to earth. One of them is Takasugi's mother, Misuzu, who just got back from France. Izumi will soon find out that living with her mother-in-law will all but burst her balloon.
Waiting back at the Surgical Ward of Wakaba General Hospital is new recruit Hiromi Kawai. Hiromi is so good at her job that she doesn't seem like a first year nurse at all. In fact, she's about to kill all of the pride that the "veteran" Izumi has. The patients in one of the rooms in the ward, Harada, Funaki, Kawaguchi, and Kasai like the way Hiromi gives I.V.s, and are impressed by all of her knowledge about medicine. This is quite contrary to Izumi, who still gets yelled at by the senior nurse.
Even the penny-wise, head nurse of surgery, Shoko, thinks Izumi is a bad nurse. But Shoko, who just became the youngest head nurse in the hospital, has problems of her own. She is especially having a hard time dealing with the blatant ill-treatment that the head nurse of Internal Medicine is giving her.
One day while at work, Izumi gets a call at the nurse station from her mother-in-law. She wants to know "what kind of food" Izumi likes. Izumi in turn tells her "I'm working!" and hangs up. Later she learns from Takasugi that because its her birthday, her mother-in-law wanted to make reservations at a restaurant. So Izumi picks up the phone and calls her back to make the reservations.
That night after work, Izumi and Takasugi are on their way out of the hospital when Izumi gets beeped back into work. She was beeped by Harada, one of the guys that she and Hiromi are taking care of. this drama falls into the usual silly + non-logical + ridiculous - yet somehow endearing to the heart type of series that only japanese cast can pull off without demanding a slap from matured viewers ;)
it revolves around Izumi, a nurse who somehow gets around in her job as well as her personal life, despite her lack of maturity and sense of responsibility.
