Overall, it is a weird dorama with really strange humor and a great plot that, although slow developed at the beggining, comes much more interesting and surprising from ep. 5. It made me feel there are layers over layers of SPEC people. It is also very interesting how each different SPEC may be helpful, dramatically dangerous or decisive in different occasions; something like the rock-paper-scissors game. Special effects were really good compared to other doramas, which is surprising. But, what about that Spanish talking from time to time? I mean, I know Shirota Yu's mother is from Barcelona and he actually speaks good Spanish, but, really, was it necessary at all? This series has been compared to HEROES, and actually Nakamura Hiro's actor from HEROES, Masi Oka, is going to produce the series in the US (the first time for a dorama). This little detail made me wonder how will the US version be =D This is a dorama that MUST NOT be missed at all!! |

Toda Erika as Toma, She did a great job, she hide her beautifulness and becomes a nerd. Oh god, i can't imagine other actress can do this job. This is the first time i saw Kase Ryo, he's cool but sometimes stupid, i like this kind of character. Absolutely the best couple of the year. Every character support this stupid pair until the end. Fukuda saki, Ryu raita, ryunosuke, but the one who makes me dissapointed is Shirota yu as satoshi. This is almost the same character that he plays in koshonin. Beuhhhh, this is not shirota fault, maybe other actor will be good to play his character. I'm really looking forward for the 3rd season of this drama, because there's something undone in the end.
Theme song: NAMIno YUKUSAKI [THE RICECOOKERS]: 9 (Kind of weird song, but very suit this drama very well) |
3. | Comments by EstherM [Rating: 8/10] In short: very creative! Spec was fun to watch, more X-files than Trick or the first series. In any case, it stands on its own and is not really linked to the 1999 show. The special effects were grand (well, for a Japanese dorama), I loved funny puns and the humour. Also, some of the cast are amongst my favorite actors. I should have figured out the big villain around episode 7 or 8 but I didnft, so I had a little gAhhhh moment during the last episode.
What I didnft like so much:
- Maybe Shirota Yu was a little miscast, he certainly didnft match the quality of the other actors.
- Episodes 3 and 4 were not very interesting |

As much as I liked the original Keizoku, this series really failed to live up to the previous one. In fact, I found it insulting that it would even be given the same name. The mysteries are somewhat dark, but when every other person in the series is a "spec", the outcomes are just not that interesting. To top it off, the scenes of the main actress putting pieces together by writing on paper, then tearing it up, then throwing it up in the air became stale after the first 2 episodes. |

It's her best role so far. She was so natural here. I think Erika did even better than Nakatani Miki in the first series. Kase Ryo was good too. Sometimes maybe too cold but still good. All cast was awesome. I really liked Kamiki, Fukuda, Shirota and Arimura. Their roles were small but all of them did great job. |

This drama has everything you ever wanted in a japanese production, good acting, whaky characters who are actually likeable, plot developments you don't see coming from a mile away and the best ending in recent drama history!
I nominate this best drama of 2010! |
7. | Comments by Jackykero [Rating: 7/10] Having seen the first Keizoku (a classic), I was concerned about the sequel, but I have to applaud what they did with Keizoku 2 - keeping the originality without trying to copy the original at all costs. The result is a pleasant, diffferent detective story, with a good balance of mystery and comedy. |
8. | Comments by catisneko [Rating: 10/10] AMAZING! I think Shirota Yu was a little miscast too... the series is still amazing overall the amount of excellent performances of Toda Erika, Kase Ryo, Kamiki Ryunosuke, Fukuda Saki, Shiina Keppei, Ryu Raita outweighted his so 10/10. |
9. | Comments by ryouji [Rating: 10/10] This drama never failed to amuse me in every episode. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS DRAMA. Like seriously after watching it and about to sleep I am thinking if I have a SPEC and if someone really has SPEC. THE ACTING IS SUPERB. |
10. | Comments by hitomi #1 [Rating: 9/10] May get to 10 with a few rewatches, best one from 2010 so far. Easily beats the original, nice storylines and always interesting, real nice pace to it. Erika as Toma was outstanding, her best role yet. |
11. | Comments by loveaomori [Rating: 8/10] It was a nice version of Trick. I think that the develop of the characters is too fast, you won't have enough time to get used to the haracter before the plot goes to its climax. |
12. | Comments by Sun_Shang_Xiang [Rating: 9/10] I really enjoyed this, great performances from Toda Erika and Kase Ryo and interesting twists in the storyline, highly recommended. |
